Septembers ZOOM Display

September’s PHS ZOOM display was given by Terry Woods, the Editor of “The Scottish Post” The Journal of the Scottish Postal History Society. Entitled “Scotland’s First Registration Labels” it began with the introduction of Registered mail from 1841 up to the start of registration labels in 1907 and then showed the different types used in Scotland up until the 1930’s when the Universal type of label was introduced throughout the UK. 14 participants enjoyed a very informative display which will be available shortly on the PHS Facebook page. Of particular note were a registered letter from Glasgow to Iona with Posted out of course handstamp used in conjunction with a 3d handstamp and postage due adhesives; also an unusual Dundee registered letter with a 5 figure serial number.
